It is open the call for the next Artist Workshop, ‘Degrowth and Contemporary Circus Practice’, by Antonia Kuzmanić. The workshop, intended for professional circus artists, will take place from 27 November to 1 December 2023, from 10 am to 13 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm, at La Central del Circ.

Sergi Romaní is a physiotherapist, physical conditioner and researcher at Functional Anatomy Group, works at Movement Lab BCN, and has extensive experience as a trainer.

In their sessions there will be a warm-up section in which mobility will be worked on, both global and more analytical; it will always depend on the needs. There will also be a time dedicated to activation and a more neural component, and finally everything previously worked on mobility and activation will be integrated through certain exercises.

Once the warm-up is complete, two or three strength blocks will be performed. Each block will consist of three exercises explained in advance and in which you will work independently with the supervision of Sergi Romani, who will help everyone who needs it to try to individualize the training as much as possible.

Finally, there will be a final section of about 10 minutes, more metabolic, where a more aerobic component will be worked on.

It’s a self-managed activity that aims to be a space for encounter, exchange and artistic practice, in which music, movement and circus intertwine for six uninterrupted hours of improvisation.

The laboratory ‘The Practice: Staging the Creative Process’ is the second of three research and creation labs taking place at La Central del Circ during 2025, as part of the 360º Accompaniment Circuit initiative within the 2nd Circus Impulse Plan (2023–2026), led by the Centre de les Arts del Circ Rogelio Rivel (CACRR) and La Central del Circ (LCC).

The aim of this lab is to share the creative process through collective feedback and to achieve coherence between the artistic dossier and the staging.

The lab involves artists selected through the Trànsits 2025 open call and students from the Centre de les Arts del Circ Rogelio Rivel.

El dijous 22 de maig, de 15h a 17h, a La Central del Circ, proposem la taula de diàleg ‘Conciliar projectes propis i d’altres’, amb l’artista Àfrica Llorens, en el marc de la 2a edició del Circuit d’Acompanyament 360º del Pla d’Impuls del Circ (2023-2026).

Àfrica Llorens s’inicia en el circ als 24 anys, especialitzant-se en la tècnica de mans-mans amb Amer Kabbani, amb qui crea Envà, espectacle amb el qual gira durant cinc anys per Catalunya, Europa i Corea. El 2023 estrena el seu primer solo, Foradada, amb la seva pròpia companyia, Moll de l’Os.

Ha treballat com a intèrpret en projectes del Circ d’Hivern de l’Ateneu 9 Barris, NoFit State, Motionhouse, i amb companyies franceses com Cia. XY i L’Immediat. Recentment, forma part de la Cia. PDF i impulsa els projectes FÈMUT i La Côte Folle.

“Viure del circ” implica, per a moltes artistes, alternar entre diversos projectes i combinar rols diferents: de l’autoria o coautoria a la interpretació. Conciliar aquestes facetes no és només una qüestió de gestionar calendaris, sinó, sobretot, de saber transitar d’un paper a l’altre amb entrega, dedicació i compromís.

Aquesta alternança pot generar tensions: com sostenir l’energia creativa sense esgotar-se? Com complir amb els compromisos, tant amb una mateixa com amb les companyes de viatge artístic? A partir de l’experiència de —i amb— Àfrica Llorens, reflexionarem sobre aquests equilibris fràgils però necessaris.

Les taules de diàleg del Circuit d’Acompanyament 360º són espais d’intercanvi informal d’experiències al voltant de qüestions artístiques, coneixements i qüestionaments, dinamitzades per artistes i companyies consolidades.

Dirigida a artistes emergents de circ contemporani, establerts/es a Catalunya.

Les inscripcions es faran per ordre d’arribada (20 persones màxim).

We will hold space to share visions, proposals and learn more about different aspects of the center and its operation.

The Under Construction demonstrations are a very special moment of presentation by individual artists and companies that reveal a first phase of their personal research. The aim is that these artists can confront the first stage of their research with an accomplice audience.

After the demonstration, a conversation takes place between the artists and the audience in order to open up and stimulate observation of the work presented and reflection on the work itself. Under Construction takes place once every month and a half or every two months, on Thursday afternoons.
