Registrations are open for the second edition of the ‘Critical Spirit’ training meeting, a space for reflection and analysis of contemporary circus works during the 2025 Trapezi Festival, as part of the Knowledge Transmission and Professionalization program of the Circuit d’Acompanyament 360º (Pla Impuls del Circ 2023-2026).

This space aims to develop a critical and analytical approach to scenic creation and foster dialogue between artists, students, and professionals in the sector. The activity is aimed at emerging circus artists.

Objectives of the meeting

  • Develop analysis and critical thinking tools applied to contemporary circus.

  • Create spaces for collective dialogue and reflection.

  • Link criticism with artistic practice and scenic creation.

PROGRAM

Monday, May 12 (6:00 PM) – Online session
Meeting with the artistic directors of the Trapezi Festival: Alba Sarraute and Cristina Cazorla.
Introduction session to the participating companies, their dramaturgies, and key elements of the festival’s artistic content.

Wednesday, May 14 – Attendance at shows during the Trapezi Festival in Reus (in-person – limited capacity)

  • 4:00 PM – Departure from Barcelona by bus to Reus (2 hours)

  • 6:00 PM – Ninguna Palabra · Balbál Company (20′)

  • 6:45 PM – Roue giratoire · Les Filles du Renard Pâle (25′)

  • 7:45 PM – Revolució · Teatro sobre Ruedas (50′)

  • 9:00 PM – Décrochez-moi-ça · Bêtes de Foire (70′)

  • 10:30 PM – Return to Barcelona by bus (2 hours)

The organization will cover the bus transportation, tickets for paid performances, and will provide a €15 allowance to each artist.

Tuesday, June 3 (3:00 PM) – Online analysis session (attendance required)
Joint work with artists, facilitated by Alba Sarraute and Víctor Bobadilla, to delve into the creative processes, scenic discourses, and dramaturgical construction of the pieces seen.


Deadline for registration: May 9 (or until places are filled).
