We are launching a review process to update the protocol against violence

La Central
2026

This week, we are launching a community-based assessment process to update the protocol against violence at La Central del Circ, developed in 2022 in collaboration with the Association of Circus Professionals of Catalonia (APCC).

The process will be led by Genera, the association we collaborate with, which works to uphold the rights of women and gender-diverse people across different areas.

The assessment will involve a preliminary analysis to identify potential spaces and situations where violence may occur, both within the venue and in the activities that take place there. The work will focus on gender-based violence, beliefs and perceptions surrounding gender, available resources, and management practices, from a feminist, intersectional, community-based and transformative perspective.

The process will include the following activities:

  • 10 individual interviews with members of the management team and the artistic community.
  • 3 group interviews, with interested participants invited through an open call for participation.
  • Online questionnaires addressed to the La Central del Circ community.

This Thursday, 29 October, at 3 pm, Genera will present the assessment process during the artistic community meeting and explain its different stages. The process is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

The final document will present the findings of the assessment, as well as the strengths, tensions and needs identified, and will propose areas for improvement to help create a safer, more respectful environment free from violence.
