Circulem

A program born from the commitment of various sector agents to support the development of a street circus piece on its journey towards staging. This alliance was formed in 2024 through a shared vocation between La Central del Circ, as a creation center, and several exhibition spaces (Festival Mercè Arts de Carrer, Fira del Circ de la Bisbal, Festival Picat, and Fira Trapezi), with the aim of revitalizing public spaces for artistic practice and advocating for their role in promoting participation, diversity, and social cohesion. The program consists of the selection of an artist or company to undertake a residency at La Central del Circ and, subsequently, showcase their performance at the various exhibition spaces.

Creation and Museums

For years, the ICUB has been running the Creation and Museums program (originally “Nit dels Museus”), where a creative factory is paired with a Barcelona municipal museum. This depends entirely on the fit between the interests of both entities, which is carried out through prior contacts between factories and museums and through a face-to-face meeting.

Cultura al barri

Cultura al barri, part of the Pla de Barris program, aims to work on cohesion, coexistence, and the cultural activation of public spaces, as well as the identity of the neighborhood in its diversity, within the context of the Besòs and Maresme area. The public space activation actions include activities aimed at various groups, facilitating the improvement of how these spaces are used. It is a showcase of one or two ongoing creations, accompanied by a brief introduction about the vision and mission of La Central del Circ, followed by a final talk with the public to share an opening moment with the neighbors of the Besòs and Maresme neighborhoods.

La Nuit du Cirque

La Nuit du Cirque is an annual event in which, for three days in November, entities from all over Europe come together to organize circus shows and activities. From La Central del Circ we have been collaborating since 2020, scheduling a resident company in our neighborhood to bring the circus closer to the public.
