Due to demonstrations at Toulouse Jean Jaurès University, the research day Ecopoetics of Circus, scheduled for 15 October as part of the European project Eko-Pyrénes Circus, will be relocated to the Cinémathèque de Toulouse.

The event is dedicated to the relationship between circus and ecopoetics. The concept of ecopoetics, developed within the field of Anglo-Saxon ecocritical literature, has gradually been reinterpreted in other disciplines (philosophy, visual arts, performing arts). In the academic context, ecopoetics “is not simply the fictionalisation of environmental programmes”, but refers to works “whose forms are influenced by ecological thinking”.

In this sense, circus emerges as a particularly fertile field. Bodily art, in relation to physical forces, materials, apparatuses, landscapes and spaces, is explored by various contemporary artists who question the relationships between human and non-human beings through heterogeneous forms, whose ecopoetic perspectives are only beginning to be explored.

The event will be bilingual (French and Spanish), with translation into both languages provided by Adèle Allais and Ester Habas.
