New selection committee for the 2026 Transits call

La Central
2025

We present the new selection committee for the Trànsits 2026 call, which will work together with the artistic direction and coordination team of La Central del Circ, consisting of Joan Ramon Graell (artistic direction and coordination), Daphné Malherbe (research, creation, and international projects), and Pablo P. Becerra (community mediation), to evaluate and select the projects at the end of October 2025.

The criterion for constituting this committee was to seek diverse profiles, both in artistic experience and in acrobatic and/or academic training. In this way, a richer and more plural approach is ensured regarding the different perspectives from which proposals are submitted. The composition of the committee will vary with each call, aiming to enhance diversity of viewpoints, distribute the workload, and offer a valuable learning opportunity: reading and delving into a large number of artistic projects.

Regarding the evaluation criteria for projects submitted to the call, the focus will be particularly on originality, coherence, contemporary authorship of the proposal, and the artists’ trajectory. For the categories linked to the Barcelona Crea Grants, the project must be an original creation, not previously presented publicly, and maintain a connection with the city of Barcelona.

We recommend reading the call’s guidelines carefully.

Transits 2026 Selection Committee

Sílvia Capell

Sílvia Capell holds a degree in Psychology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and trained as a circus artist at La Tarumba (Lima). She founded the companies En Diciembre and Les Capgirades. As a performer, she is part of Col·lectiu La Persiana, Els Galindos, La Virgueria, Les Impuxibles, 28è Circ Hivern at Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, the company Voel, and the dance companies Mar Gómez and Nilak. She is a circus artist who loves working with the Chinese pole and translating what she feels on stage. Her own creations include Homenaje and Àngela, both connected to the deepest wound she carries: death. She often wonders: “What if we were taught how to lose instead of how to win?”

Judit Obach

Judit Obach holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona and trained as a circus artist at the Centre de les Arts del Rogelio Rivel (Barcelona). She is the co-founder of the company Las Sistars, and with their first show, Dai ma aspetta, she has toured various national and international festivals. She also performs with the French company Portés De Femmes, working with them at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain. Her circus specialties include acrobatic lifts and knife throwing. Never leaving behind her literary spirit, her artistic career and performances are always in communion with both her circus work and her philosophical background.

Mireia Sala

A Fine Arts student at the University of Barcelona, she is passionate about circus as the union of her two loves: acrobatics and art. She has collaborated with Australian companies and developed her own creations that blend circus disciplines with visual arts. Her work has been presented at circus festivals such as the Berlin Circus Festival, as well as in artistic institutions like the Centre d’Arts Santa Mònica (Barcelona) and in art galleries. She continues to explore and blur the boundaries between these two disciplines. She is the aesthetic and artistic driving force behind the project Duet Duot, together with the artist Yldor Llach.

Gaston Sànchez

Gastón Sánchez is a circus artist specializing in clowning, juggling, and wire work. He trained in Buenos Aires and Barcelona, where he participated in the company Circ Menut. He created his solo show Niky Laucha, which he has presented at various festivals. Later, he co-founded Circo Herencia with Fridda Odden Brinkmann, performing at international festivals and school programs in Norway. He also created Extractos de Inocencia together with Agnes Pele, under the direction of Karl Stets. He has participated in the Cabaret at Montjuïc Castle during La Mercè festival. Currently, he tours with Circo Herencia in Norway and with the company Nucifraga in Spain with the act Crónica de una muerte anunciada, created by Lucia Fernández. Additionally, he is working on a new circus and clown show, Memòria de peix, together with Tomás Taboada and with external collaboration from Alba Sarraute and Karl Stets.
