Dramaturgy and Stage Writing Exchange Days

The artists find themselves repeatedly and yet spontaneously making aesthetic judgments, in often private spaces, within a collective or individually, using the circus as a language to write what they feel, be it ugly, sublime or beautiful, a phenomenon called contemporary circus dramaturgy. This precious exercise of intersubjectivity, of shaping ourselves as a figure in a circus and in feeling finds its space, to be shared, in the Dramaturgy and Stage Writing Exchange Days.

A space to share, among people from various artistic and management fields, the challenge to physical, social, political, aesthetic laws and also to question our abilities, the perceptions of what surrounds us and of its later translation.

If for contemporary circus artists it is often very easy to assess the risk when they take a trajectory in flight, throw an object or look into the abyss, experience shows that taking a little artistic risk can be very complicated or on the contrary, a suicidal artistic risk can mean a total commitment and artistically it can give us eternal life.

This uncertainty that accompanies risk creates a favorable situation that narrows or erases the margins for creativity.

It is precisely for this reason that the Dramaturgy and Stage Writing Exchange Days were born in 2017.  These Days allow us to share and test the use of one technique or another, the translation of one concept or another, or how with material taken from the laboratory or worked on in the studio we can evoke new perceptions that lead us to some original or new playwrights.

In these Days we work with different debate and communication techniques to enrich ourselves with different opinions on dramaturgy and directing in the performing arts. It’s about a time of reflection and meeting to create connections between the different fields.
