Arxiu Viu de Circ (Living Circus Archive)

The Arxiu Viu de Circ (Living Circus Archive) is one of the 14 measures that make up the Circus Promotion Plan of Catalonia (2023-2026) and is led by La Central del Circ. This measure aims to strengthen circus research through the creation of a digital archive and the generation of spaces for reflection on circus. The project seeks to collect and organize the circus heritage of Catalonia to preserve its artistic value, provide a documentation space that allows wider access to existing materials, and promote a meeting and collaboration space for artists, creators, and researchers.

The project management team is coordinated by journalist and documentary filmmaker specialized in circus, Vicent Llorca, and includes professionals with diverse experience: Ramon Bech, expert in the Catalan circus sector; Manu Valentín, archival specialist; and Marc Aguilar, expert in software and collaborative platforms, linked to the Bit Lab Cultural Association. This team works closely with the management team of La Central del Circ.

The Circus Promotion Plan of Catalonia (2023-2026) is an initiative of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Association of Circus Professionals of Catalonia (APCC); it is a boost to the circus sector through 14 measures to strengthen research, promote creation and production, create circuits, enhance national and international projection and dissemination, structure and regulate training, support sector-specific facilities, foster professionalization and specialization, spread and promote circus in society, and develop projects related to sustainability and accessibility.
