Open call to participate in CirCulem 2026/2027

The call for applications is now open to participate in CirCulem 2026/2027, a program promoted by various agents in the circus sector with the aim of supporting the development and staging of a street circus piece.

This initiative stems from the shared will to enliven public space through artistic practices and to strengthen the circus production network in Catalonia, recognizing its value as a tool to foster citizen participation, diversity, and social cohesion.

The following organizations are taking part: La Central del Circ (Barcelona), La Mercè Festivities – Street Arts (Barcelona), La Palanca, Contemporary Circus Festival (Esparreguera), L’Estruch – Creation Factory for Live Arts (Sabadell), Fira Trapezi (Reus), Circpicat, Circus and Live Arts Festival (Alpicat, Lleida), and Fira de Circ al Carrer de la Bisbal d’Empordà.

The program offers a creation and performance circuit that includes: four weeks of residency; two previews; one premiere; and two performances.

This call is addressed to:

• Professional circus artists, individuals or collectives
• Emerging and/or established companies
• Companies from the Catalan network, with tax residence in Catalonia

Evaluation criteria for the artistic proposal:

• Contemporary circus in show format (short circus acts will not be accepted)
• In the final phase of the creation–production process, not yet premiered
• Small or medium-scale street format, suitable for daytime programming
• Suitable for all audiences
• The applicant artist or company must have a production manager as the liaison with CirCulem entities and events
