From La Central del Circ, in collaboration with artist and designer Dani Buch, we present issue number 14 of our fanzine, Can We Create Without Memory?. This edition is dedicated to memory, in tune with the work being carried out by the Living Circus Archive team as part of the Circus Promotion Plan (2023–2026).

The fanzine aims to be a call to recover and preserve memory in order to build a future that respects both the present and the past, and that commits to shared, critical, and liberated creation—free from the structures that attempt to regulate art and culture. As Ramon Bech, historian, circus chronicler, and member of the Living Circus Archive, says: “Memory is fragile, and if we don’t take care of it, we’ll lose the rich circus legacy we have. That would be unforgivable and unjust.”

Following the tone of recent editions, this year’s fanzine gathers texts and reflections on this theme from circus companies, artists, and professionals such as Ramon Bech, Escarlata, If Circus, and Maria Paz Marciano (La côte folle). The editorial was written by Víctor Bobadilla, artistic coordinator of La Central del Circ.

You will also find a section dedicated to the companies and artists taking part in the 2025 Trànsits residency program, supported this year by the Barcelona Crea grants: Cía. Otra vez lunes, Arrel Guevara, Cie. La norma, circus company “eia”, NonGratos Teatre, Cie. Le bar à chiens, Cía. Mesa para dos, Morgana Morandi, Hristina Sormaz, Gabbie Cook, Elisa Oliva, and Cía. Noraezean. Also featured are the companies involved in the Support Space: Maragda Induráin and Maria Estela, Néstor Salvador, Maria de la Parra, Marine de Grandmaison, and Compañía Solca.

The cover photo belongs to the show Is This Bird a Caravan? by Circ Perillós (1991), captured by photographers Santi Morató and Denis Calvarons.

If you’d like a copy of the fanzine, you can find it in print format at the reception desk of La Central. We hope you enjoy it!
