Resolution of the CirCulem 2026–2027 Call for Projects

On November 13, the CirCulem 2026–2027 call for proposals was resolved. Out of the 21 projects submitted, the selection committee chose Desorientat, by the artist Guga.

The committee in charge of the selection is made up of representatives from various organizations participating in the program.

CirCulem is a program promoted by different agents from the circus sector with the aim of supporting the development and presentation of a street circus piece. This initiative stems from a shared desire to activate public space through artistic practices and to strengthen the circus production network in Catalonia, recognizing circus as a valuable tool for fostering citizen participation, diversity, and social cohesion.

The following organizations participate in the program: La Central del Circ (Barcelona), Festes de la Mercè – Arts de Carrer (Barcelona), La Palanca – Festival de Circ Contemporani (Esparreguera), L’Estruch – Creation Factory for Live Arts (Sabadell), Fira Trapezi (Reus), Circpicat – Festival de Circ i Arts en Viu (Alpicat, Lleida), and the Fira de Circ al Carrer de la Bisbal d’Empordà.

Guga (Gustavo Arruda de Carvalho) is a circus artist from São Paulo with an outstanding international career. A specialist in various acrobatic disciplines, he has worked with companies such as Los Galindos, Circ Cric, Los Gingers, and the Circ d’Hivern of the Ateneu de 9 Barris. He has also collaborated with European circuses and with social circus projects through Clowns Without Borders. He is currently touring with Here we go! and taking part in collective projects such as Ambulant and Verde casi Negro.

Desorientat (working title) is a physical theatre and gestural comedy show for all audiences. It tells the story of an overwhelmed executive who, upon losing a vital piece of paper stuck to a lamppost, triggers a succession of absurd and amusing actions. Everyday life turns into adventure, and tragedy becomes comedy.
