With the support of the Ibero-American Arts Aid Fund, La Central del Circ launches the call for proposals “Circus Creation from an Ibero-American Perspective” every two years, with the aim of strengthening existing exchanges with Latin America and providing resources and support to unique projects focused on creating contemporary circus performances.

Last March, the committee responsible for international activity at La Central del Circ selected two companies from a total of 70 proposals received during the most recent call, which remained open until April 15, 2025 (see details here).

The selected companies are:

  • Cía. Croma (Efraín Salazar), with the project ‘Alguna vez fui’ (Chile)

  • Luis Mantilla, with the project ‘Vestigios’ (originally from Ecuador and currently based in Argentina)

The selection of these companies was based on several key criteria. One of the most relevant aspects was the level of research and the creative process involved in their projects. Both companies demonstrate a deep and committed approach to exploring new circus languages and techniques, which is essential for keeping the art of circus alive and enriching its evolution.

La Central del Circ will offer the selected projects a creative space, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing sessions. The support will be provided as follows:

  • Each company will have access to a creation space for three weeks, from November 3 to 21.

  • Each company will be able to use La Central del Circ’s facilities: a shared office space and training room.

  • La Central del Circ will arrange mentorship sessions, visits to other venues, and meetings with the local artistic sector and community.

  • La Central del Circ will cover travel, meals, and accommodation costs for both companies, up to a maximum of €6,700 (to be shared between the two selected projects).

The selected companies will present a work in progress showing as part of the P.L.A.T. event on Thursday, November 20, at 7:00 p.m.
