‘Pioneers of the New Catalan Circus,’ Second Open Gathering of the Living Circus Archive, at Ateneu Popular 9 Barris

From the Living Circus Archive, one of the 15 measures of the second Circus Promotion Plan (2023-2026), an invitation is extended to participate in various gatherings organized around themes that explore the history of Catalan circus. The aim is to involve the circus sector in creating plural narratives that reflect the diversity and richness of this artistic universe.

The second gathering, titled “Pioneers of the New Catalan Circus”, will take place at the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris on Friday, December 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This meeting aims to reconstruct the memory of experiences lived during the 1970s and 1990s, a pivotal period in the development of contemporary circus in the region.

Through this event, the goal is to give voice to the protagonists of those moments, sharing their first-hand experiences to gain a deeper understanding of the collective process that shaped the evolution of Catalan circus.

This gathering is the second in a series designed to showcase the diversity of our circus heritage from the late 20th century to the present, establishing a space for dialogue and exchange between different generations of artists.

The Living Circus Archive initiative aims to create a space for documentation and archiving dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage and artistic value of Catalan circus. It also seeks to bridge the gap between new generations of artists and a genealogy of creators in the region, sharing their journeys and the cultural legacy they have built.
