La Central del Circ participates in the pilot project CirCulem with various circus sector agents

CirCulem debuts this year as a pilot project through the commitment of several sector agents to promote a street circus piece on its path towards staging.

This alliance is born from a shared vocation to enliven public spaces for artistic practice and with the aim of strengthening the circus production fabric in Catalonia, considering its value in reinforcing the role of culture in promoting participation, diversity, and social cohesion.

As a result of this spirit of collaboration, the selection of the piece was made in dialogue between the participating organizations: Festival Mercè Arts de Carrer, Fira del Circ de la Bisbal, Festival La Palanca d’Esparreguera, Fira Trapezi, and La Central del Circ. All are circus sector agents in the territory who share the will to structure it.

The idea is for it to encompass almost all stages of creation (production) and exhibition.

‘Cos i crit’,by Ariadna Gilabert Corominas

The piece chosen for this pilot edition is ‘Cos i crit’ by Ariadna Gilabert Corominas, a circus artist specializing in flying rope, aerial rope, and Cyr wheel disciplines.

In her creation project ‘Cos i crit’, we witness the birth of a woman and her journey—a life story made of storm, serenity, and catharsis, which travels from the personal to the universal through the body and emotions with trials, challenges, and vertiginous physical performances. It mirrors an initiatory and liberating process full of magic, poetry, and care, where nothing is left to chance.

As part of the project, the artist will carry out a three-week residency at La Central del Circ in September 2024 and will present her piece on September 21 and 22 at La Mercè, on October 29, 2024, at La Palanca d’Esparreguera, and during the Trapezi and La Bisbal fairs in 2025.
